
ABOUT
Paula Srur Carcar is a composer, arranger, and orchestrator from Buenos Aires, Argentina. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Film and Media Scoring and a minor in the Theory of Jazz and Popular Song. She specializes in writing for orchestras and in blending traditional and folkloric instrumentation from different parts of the world. Her music has been featured in concerts and performed by ensembles across the globe, ranging from symphonic and chamber orchestras to popular music groups.

Paula has worked on scores for a wide variety of audiovisual projects in Argentina, New York, and Los Angeles—including feature films, short films, music videos, documentaries, musicals, and theatrical productions. She was also hired to write additional music for the Canadian production company Reel One Entertainment. Her credits include: The Monkey King Is a Girl (short film, composer), A Missed Connection (feature film, additional music), Mr. Pawsitively Perfect (feature film, additional music), Misero Bufo (feature film, composer), Letargo (short film, composer), Mi Viaje (short film, composer), Mentiras Que Contamos (short documentary), No Voy A Parar (feature film, composer; selected for the International Labor Film Festival’s ODS Lab), Un Recorrido Porteño (video documentary, composer; Best Video at the Film University’s Online Video Festival), and Utópico (video, composer; Public's Choice Award from the same festival).

Her work has been recognized with several awards, including the Walter Harp Award and the Doug Timm Award for excellence in film scoring from Berklee College of Music. There, she was also chosen as one of the six composers of the Fall 2024 Film Scoring Orchestra, for which she composed and recorded five original symphonic pieces at Shames Family Scoring Stage; in addition to assist as a conductor and score producer for Oscar-winning composer Mychael Danna, as part of the BMI Day.

Paula has collaborated on projects with the Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive (LAFCI), including assisting at a 2024 orchestral recording session at Warner Bros. Studios’ Eastwood Scoring Stage. The album featured works by William Ross, Conrad Pope, and Sherri Chung, with Tito Puente Jr. as a guest artist, produced by Ángel Vélez and Micaela Carballo and mixed by Dennis Sands. That same year, she was selected to participate in the LA Score Production Workshop by Joy Music House, composing, orchestrating, and producing an original orchestral piece recorded at the legendary EastWest Studios in Los Angeles, supported by a scholarship from the Alliance for Women Film Composers. She is currently one of the mentees of the SCL (Society of Composers & Lyricists) NY Mentorship Program.

She has also taken part in the 2022 NYU Screen Scoring Workshops, composing a piece recorded by the Budapest Scoring Orchestra, mixed by Geoff Sanoff. While living in New York, Paula served as a music assistant for the bilingual musical AZUL, featuring music by Jacinta Clusellas and arrangements/orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire (Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen) and Kurt Crowley (Hamilton). During that time, she also worked as a studio assistant at Light and Sound, the film scoring studio of Lucía Caruso and Pedro da Silva, and supported their chamber orchestra, Manhattan Camerata.

In the concert music sphere, she has contributed as an arranger to events such as the 2024 International Folk Festival, Latin America Vive Festival, Berklee’s Ídolos Latinos, and the 2025 Commencement Concert. She also served as an assistant arranging supervisor for the Berklee Presents team, which produces high-profile events including Singers Showcase, the Berklee Amplify Gala, and the annual Commencement Concerts.

At Berklee, she served as co-executive director of the Berklee Motion Picture Orchestra and as president of the Latin American Association, where she played a key role in fostering community among students from across the region and disciplines.
​
Among her most recent projects are a co-arrangement for Nu Deco Ensemble, premiered at the Miami Bandshell featuring artist Betty Who, and the premiere of an original composition at Berklee’s 2025 Career Jam, where she was honored with the Composition Award. Currently, Paula is an orchestrator for the Multicultural Music Group Orchestra in New York City.
